Amazon.com breaks ground on new headquarters

In this recession it is good to know that one company, with the consumer in mind, is thriving:

City and state leaders gathered in Seattle’s South Lake Union neighborhood on Monday to break ground on Amazon.com Inc.’s new office campus.

Appearing were Gov. Chris Gregoire and Seattle Mayor Greg Nickels, who praised the Seattle online retail giant (NASDAQ: AMZN) for building the new campus that could eventually span 1.7 million square feet.

Amazon recently reached a deal with TiVo to broadcast “rented” movies to DVR’s for a short rental period as well as other tv shows. Perhaps the move on Amazon’s part is due to its newly found income revenue…
