And then there was the debate

Last night Barack Obama and John McCain came down to Oxford and gave a debate. While the topic was set as foreign policy, they spent most of the time talking about domestic issues, mainly financial ones.

The debate got heated at times, but it remained fairly tame compared to some I’ve seen in the past. However, the topic of Hardball with Chris Matthews directly after the debate was that McCain never looked at Obama. It was as if he showed contempt for him. Obama also missed making the points where he really shines at. He didn’t talk about unemployment at all (even though the topic was foreign policy, they were talking about earmarks and taxes so unemployment isn’t off the table) and never mentioned those in poverty in America.

Next week we’ll get to see Joe Biden and Sarah Palin debate in St. Louis. I’m actually really looking forward to seeing if Palin can hold her own against Biden without looking like a "deer in headlights" like Tina Fey makes her look on SNL.
