Anheuser-Busch InBev considers selling Rolling Rock
Jennifer McClelland | RSS | 2 CommentsPoor Rolling Rock… The history of Rolling Rock has been mixed in the past few years and it has been tossed between Anheuser Busch and InBev.
Up until 2006, InBev owned Rolling Rock. In 2006, Anheuser-Busch bought the pale beer. Now, since InBev has purchased AB, it wants to sell Rolling Rock off again.
Related posts:Possible suitors include North American Breweries Inc., which is owned by KPS Capital Partners, a New-York based private equity firm, and C2 Imports LLC, a California-based beer importer led by former A-B executive Charlie Cindric, the Journal reported. Last month, A-B InBev sold Labatt USA, the exclusive U.S. importer of Labatt beer, to KPS.

My brother lives near the old rolling rock brewery in Latrobe, PA. It was very tough on the town when the brewery was bought the first time and the layoffs came down. Now, they are just selling it on. What was the point?

Rolling Rock’s existence has been a volatile one ever since the Labatt Brewing Company acquired them in 1987.
On a related note, there is an interesting documentary called “Beer Wars” out right now about the growing numbers of mergers & acquisitions in the beer industry and the threat it poses to the independent breweries. I’d recommend Netflixing it in a couple months.
While RR hasn’t been independent in some time, it would seem their employees deserve better.
