Blago sees his last day as Ill Governor

A 59-0 vote in the Illinois state Senate effectively kicked impeached Illinois governor Rod Blagojevich out of office late this afternoon.

As if getting thrown out of office by his peers wasn’t shameful enough, federal agents are still putting together a file against him in the federal corruption charges that arose from attempting to sell President Obama’s abandoned Senate seat to the highest bidder.

I’m sure that many citizens of Illinois are glad to see him leave office. I would be ashamed of a politician from my state being so egotistical that he or she couldn’t vacate an office that they shouldn’t still hold. I think that’s where most of the anger towards Blagojevich comes from; the fact that he wouldn’t leave office quietly. Instead, he wanted to make a mockery of the role of governor and a media spectacle of the entire proceedings. It’s shameful.
