Make your own coffee at home

Of course, you don’t have to make a trip to the coffee shop to buy your morning pick me up. This may seem so obvious, but you can save a ton of money every month by skipping the coffee to go. You can easily, and cheaply, make your own lattes and cappuccinos at home.
There are so many recipe sites on the internet with “copycat” recipes that can help you replicate those sweet tastes you crave from Starbucks or any other chain.
As a busy mom, I have become an expert in making my own coffee at home. I’m not just talking about straight drip-coffee either. I have been able to snag a free Senseo machine as well as free coffee for the machine. It makes fairly good coffee, but I like to have some flavor to my coffee when I drink it in the morning or throughout the day.
At the grocery store, you can find creamers that come in flavors such as caramel, french vanilla, and hazelnut now. If you go down the coffee aisle, you can even find syrups that have the same flavors. These are great to make lattes with. While the latte you make at home may not have the foam, it will have the flavor. Not to mention, at home you can ice it with as much or as little as you want.
You can even make your own frozen, blended coffees at home. It may take a bit more time and effort than jumping in the car and running to the coffee house for your craving, they can be just as tasty and far cheaper.
When it comes to coffee, I really think that $3 or more for a cup is too much. I really like knowing that I only spend about $.10 on a cup of coffee (give or take $.05 depending on whether or not I add syrup).

I completely agree. I’ve been making my own coffee at home for years. I’m cheap and have been told that I can squeeze a penny until it cries. If I’m going away for the morning, I’ll take a thermos of coffee with me. The cost of a cup of coffee at the coffee shop really adds up when you drink 2-3 cups every morning. I’d like to know where you got that free Senseo machine. I’m the queen of free and I don’t know where to score that.

I got the Senseo machine on the Senseo website actually. They were running a promotion a couple of years ago that I just happened to catch on SlickDeals.net

It always amazes me how they can justify the coffee prices at starbucks etc so i usually take a flask with me instead

Yes! I just made myself a cup of joe actually before sitting down to read your blog
I agree completely. Not only that, but I think that coffee made at home is usually better. I much prefer the feel of a mug in my hand than a thin piece of cardboard.

I like Starbucks but only every now and then. To me it’s more of a treat than a necessity. At least at home when you make coffee, you don’t feel rushed to fix it the way you like it (with creamer, sugar, etc..). I always feel like I’m being rushed when I try to make my coffee at Starbucks.

I know what you mean, SBs can seem like you’re on a conveyor belt. But once yuo have that latte or whatever, you can’t beat the ambiance of Starbucks’s outdoor terraces on a nice sunny afternoon.

I agree with you that making of coffee at home is cheaper than buying it from a stores . Your recipe is also looks very good. But lot of people are not able to make the coffee like your get at the store. So there are lot of good coffee makers in the market which provides coffee for cheap rates.

Buying coffee daily from a coffee shop is not so affordable for me so, I prefer to prepare it on my own. I try different flavors in my own way. It’s quite interesting to prepare coffee on my own. I love doing it now.

What about quick-all-in-one coffee powder in sachets? Those you can just bring along to office and pour into a mug filled with water and you are done. That was how I drank my coffee most of the time.

I also agree, that making of coffee at home is cheaper than buying it from a stores. But I can’t make the coffee as good as coffee in the stores.

I agree. Nothing really beats making them at home. You just need to spend 100-200 dollars for a machine and you can be enjoying your cups for months or years. Just a note, research on the different type of beans. It makes a lot of difference.
