Man who broke into Sarah Palin’s email account faces 5 years.

David Kernell, a 20 year old student at the University of Tennessee, is facing some serious fines and jail time after turning himself in for allegedly hacking into Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin’s personal Yahoo email account, where she was conducting state business. He was indicted by a federal grand jury with the charge of intentionally and without authorization accessing a personal computer by means of interstate communication. Basically, hacking her email account.

The charge could lead to 5 years in federal prison and a $250,000 fine.

I personally don’t think that she should have been conducting such business with a Yahoo email account, she’s asking to get hacked that way…especially after becoming a "real" public figure. I say "real" because no one knew who she was before she was picked to be John McCain’s running mate.

Yea, this guy shouldn’t have hacked her email account, or any email account for that matter…but if he were to break into say…Joe the plumber’s email account, what would David be charged with then? I believe this matter was ONLY pressed because he’s the son of a democratic Tennessee state representative.
