AIG’s new CEO Robert Benmosche will end up getting $7 million with a pay package with the company. This leaves investors thinking, how will this help us out???

Well, the answer is, it won’t, or at least not enough for it to matter. And if you think investors of AIG are angry, wait until you read about Abercrombie and Fitch’s CEO Michael Jeffries.

This guy earned $71.8 million in REALIZED compensation for the year in 2008. You could argue that it’s not that bad because people didn’t really start feeling the recession until the second half of the year, but wait…The company ended up filing a huge loss for the same year he was spending over a million dollars for personal use of things like the corporate jet. Shares of the company fell 70% in 2008.

Stories like this flood the top paid CEO list of 2008. I can’t wait to see what the top CEOs of 2009 are making and what people will throw at their houses when that list comes out. Here is the list:
