The Pitch – Where would you like to retire?

If you had a choice where would you retire?

Question:

While people are losing jobs and portions of their retirement funds have been wiped out, is there anywhere in particular that you would like to retire to, or have you changed your retirement plans?

Answer:

I recently read that Panama is the “new Florida” as far as retirement goes. Thanks to cheap, and good quality, health care and the low cost of living, Panama has become a great place to retire to.

I would consider moving to another country once I retire, but that is a few years away and I have a lot of time to think about it.

  1. I’ll take my chances in the good old USA. People forget the instability of Central and South America and the question is do they remember Manuel Antonio Noriega? Stuff happens, but it happens a lot in those places. What about Honduras?

  2. I’d retire in Hawaii and lay on the beach all day lol.

  3. Retiring in the service I think it is the sad part for others especially when you love your work but some are happy for to them to rest and enjoy the benefits they once had been paying as their taxes…well I agree to go to Hawaii, you could really enjoy the beaches and the beautiful places there…

  4. I’ve read about the advantages of retiring to Panama – it’s one of the few low cost, stable places that are well suited. It’s unfortunate that domestic locations are almost out of the question because of the rising cost of living.

  5. I have to go with Hiro, the beach life is well just my ideal work office place. Me and Jen are young but we are already talking about moving to the beach to experience it before we get to old and we might even retire there if we end up staying around long enough.

Something about watching the sun rise and set and listening to the waves is relaxing.
