Auction your stuff for free

Listia

Getting rid of clutter around your house can be one of the most annoying things to do. I know from experience that sometimes you just want to dump it to Goodwill or some other charity rather than trying to get anything for your stuff. However, some of the stuff in your house can be worth something.

There’s a rather new service out there called Listia that allows you to auction your stuff for free. In return, you can get points that can be used toward other things. So, in truth, it is kind of like eBay but you don’t have to send anyone any money and you can still get rid of things in your house that you may think is worthless.

The best part of the site is that there are plenty of auctions on the site right now that are offering items that are actually in high demand. How about an Amazon Kindle? Those sseem to be extremely popular and Chrismtas is just around the corner. You could bid on a Kindle with points that you get from “selling” things that you just have laying around your house that you no longer use.

One thing that I really enjoy about the site is that there are no fees, unlike eBay. Just a month or so ago, I decided tto try to sell a lot of things on eBay to raise some money to pay for a new iPod. The fees totaled to around $50 just to sell about $275 worth of stuff.

So, check it out if you’re looking for free stuff online or are a fan of free stuff in general.

The Pitch – How do you feel about the Amazon Kindle

How do you feel about the Amazon Kindle?

Question:

The Amazon kindle is such a popular device that it sells out almost immediately. It also carries a pretty high price tag and the use of the device is fairly limited, how do you feel about it?

Answer:

I don’t know that I would ever own a Kindle. It is a bit too “one tasked” in my opinion. There really isn’t anything it can do that my computer can’t (other than be not backlit). Besides, I really prefer to have a book in my hand and read it if I want a book.

If I’m going to be reading a book, I don’t want to sit there and look at a computer screen. Besides, if you get on an airplane you can’t read that while you’re sitting on the runway. The other day while I was sitting on the tarmac waiting to take off, I could read my book, but the lady next to me couldn’t read her kindle until we were in the air.
