The end of the mall?

I read an article today that said that indoor malls are becoming more and more scarce these days. Every so often, a new mall will be built…but it really seems like the indoor mall is on the outs. I have seen 2 outdoor malls built in the Memphis metro area, while there is only one or two indoor malls (Wolfchase and Oak Court) still doing a decent amount of business. The Mall of Memphis…dead
Hickory Ridge Mall…killed by a tornado.

Perhaps the reason is customers want to shop at stores that aren’t disheveled, and where they can actually find an item they’re looking for…oh yea…the internet.

Have you seen any malls going out of business around you?
