Most individuals opt for term life insurance, but depending on your circumstances, it might be smarter to go with whole life insurance. You will pay a higher premium for term life insurance if your policy expires and you want to renew it. That’s because term life insurance gets more expensive as you age… With whole life insurance, you don’t run into that problem.

Thanks for this great resource. I never really understood why people would talk about how life insurance was somehow a piece of your overall financial puzzle…but this helped clear it up.
Never paid too much attention to the issue. In the Marine Corps everyone had SGLI but since leaving I’ve avoided the issue altogether.
At this point I think that “Term” life insurance is probably the best avenue to investigate.
