Worst cars for the money 2009

Every year U.S. News comes out with a list of cars that are a bad buy. With everyone wanting to get the most for their money, this list could be pretty important.

Are you looking for a compact car? The Pontiac G5 is the worst buy in that category. It’s priced higher than some competitors and “ranks low” in other U.S. News rankings such as performance and comfort. Between maintenance and fuel, the G5 will run you between $5,000 and $10,000 more than the Honda Fit or Civic over 5 years. It doesn’t help that it depreciates 60% over the first 5 years.

How about an upscale car? You may want to think twice about that Volvo S60. While it could save you around $3,000 over 5 years as opposed to the BMW 3 series or the Cadillac CTS, you are still getting a car that is based on a 9 year old design.
